Monchengladbach' s Andre Hahn out of action until 2016

Xinhua, October 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Monchengladbach midfielder Andre Hahn will be sidelined for the rest of 2016 after suffering a severe knee injury following a foul play by Schalke' s Johannes Geis, the "Foals" confirmed on Monday.

Monchengladbach secured their fifth straight win with the 3-1 win over Schalke. However, the "Foals" victory was overshadowed by the late foul play of Schalke' s Johannes Geis, who saw a straight red card after injuring Andre Hahn' s left knee with a tackle in the 80th minute.

After receiving medical treatment on the pitch, Andre Hahn had to be carted off and taken into the hospital, where a fracture of the tibial plateau and a tear of the lateral meniscus were diagnosed.

The 25-year-old midfielder successfully underwent a surgery on Monday. According to the "Foals" Hahn will be sidelined "at least for the rest of the first half of the campaign."

Andre Hahn joined Borussia Monchengladbach in March 2014 and scored five goals in 30 appearances to date.

Due to the rude foul and resulting injury, the German Football Association (DFB) penalized Schalke' s Johannes Geis with a five-game ban in all competitions. Endi
