Xinhua, October 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese and French enterprises announced an agreement Wednesday to jointly construct and operate a British nulear power plant.

China General Nuclear (CGN) and Electricite de France (EDF) made the joint announcement as Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is in London for a state visit to Britain, held talks with British Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street.

The CGN-led Chinese consortium, said the Chinese company, will take up 33.5 percent of the Hinkley Point C project, which is located at southwestern England and estimated at 18 billion pounds (some 28 billion U.S. dollars).

According to the statement, CGN and EDF will also cooperate on other British nuclear projects, including one at Bradwell, southeastern England, based on Chinese nuclear technology "Hualong". Endi
