A 13-year-old Palestinian boy was shot dead in the West Bank on Sunday evening in clashes with Israeli soldiers near the city of Ramallah, Palestinian health ministry said.

The ministry said in an emailed press statement that Ahmed Sharaka was killed by a gunshot in his head fired by Israeli soldiers in the clashes at one of the Israeli army roadblocks near Ramallah.

It said that the boy was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital in the city, but had shortly died of his sustained wounds, adding that 66 Palestinians were injured during the clashes with the Israeli soldiers on Sunday.

Clashes were fierce in the West Bank cities of Tulkafrem, Ramallah and Nablus as well as in the Gaza Strip, where 20 people were injured in the coastal enclave, according to Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qedra.

He said that two of the wounded are in critical condition. The clashes in the Gaza Strip were between dozens of young men and Israeli soldiers stationed on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
