Four workers hurt in Texas chemical plant explosion

Four workers were injured in a chemical plant explosion and ensuing fire in the U.S. state of Texas on Friday.

The blast and fire occurred on Friday morning at the Sun Edison Silicon Processing Facility in Pasadena, a city in the southeastern part of Texas, a major oil and gas producer in the United States.

Pasadena police confirmed the accident, saying that the fire has been put out and the four workers with non life-threatening injuries have been sent to hospital for treatment.

Authorities said that the explosion posed no threat to the public.

It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion but authorities were trying to determine it. Enditem
