Police seize over 65,000 stimulant pills in Yangon

Xinhua, September 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Counter-narcotics police have seized more than 65,000 stimulant tablets with a street value of 254,000 U.S. dollars in Mayangone Township, northern part of Yangon, official media reported Saturday.

The pills were discovered in Yogyi Creek after police received a tip-off from a local resident on Friday, said the Global New Light of Myanmar.

In July, an inspection team seized 26.7 million stimulant tablets with a street value of more than 100 million U.S. dollars in Mingaladon township in northern Yangon, the biggest drug bust in Myanmar.

Police also seized an additional 1.5 million stimulant tablets worth about 5.84 million U.S. dollars in north Dagon township in Yangon in August.

According to information from the Ministry of Home Affairs, there are similarities between the bags containing the illegal stimulant tablets in north Dagon and those seized in Mingaladon Township. Endi
