Insee confirms zero growth in France in Q2

Xinhua, September 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

France's statistics institute Insee on Wednesday confirmed a zero growth in France for the April-June period of 2015 after the French economy experienced a 0.7 percent growth a quarter earlier.

Insee attributed the stagnant economic activities to unchanged consumers expenditure, which was in comparison to a 0.9 percent rise during the first quarter of the year.

Investment, one of France's main growth engines, decreased by 0.2 percent over the period, figures showed.

In its fresh report, Insee revised up growth of exports to 2 percent compared to the previous rate of 1.7 percent, while imports decreased further to 0.5 percent.

For the whole year of 2015, the agency forecasts the eurozone's second largest economy to grow 1.2 percent, above the government's target of 1 percent, on expected rebound in manufacturing activity and increasing household expenditure. Endit
