Cote d'Ivoire's poll body assures security during forthcoming polls

Xinhua, September 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cote d'Ivoire's Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) has given a reassurance of adequate security during the Oct. 25 presidential elections.

While addressing the media in Abidjan on Tuesday, CEI vice-chairman Sourou Kone said the security plan for the elections had been completed.

"The plan will be executed in the next few days to reassure the voters," he said.

The overall security plan for the elections includes provision of security before, during and after the elections.

According to Cote d'Ivoire's security authorities, a total of 34,000 soldiers will be mobilized starting Oct. 1 to secure the presidential elections.

The deployment will remain the same until the end of a possible second round of the presidential elections.

The forthcoming elections will finally close the sad chapter of the 2010-2011 post-election violence that left at least 3,000 people dead in Cote d'Ivoire. Enditem
