Singapore stocks close 0.79 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 22. 73 points, or 0.79 percent, to close at 2,845.74.

A total of 1.35 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 24 billion Singapore dollars (873.2 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 239 to 153, while 546 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 13.80 points, or 0.48 percent, to close at 2, 868.47 on Tuesday. Endi
