Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday embarked on a week-long two-nation tour of Ireland and the United States.

His first stop is Ireland - the first by an Indian prime minister in 60 years - during which he will hold talks with his Irish counterpart Enda Kenny in capital Dublin.

"Leaving for Ireland, where I will hold delegation level talks with Mr. Enda Kenny, Taoiseach of Ireland & interact with Indian community," Modi tweeted shortly before leaving for Dublin.

During the final leg of his tour, the Indian prime minister will go to the U.S. where he will address the United Nations General Assembly.

"After Ireland, will travel to New York City," he tweeted.

In New York, Modi will address a UN Sustainable Development Summit and participate in a Summit on Peacekeeping that will be hosted by U.S. President Barack Obama.

The Indian prime minister is also scheduled to meet several world leaders on the sidelines of the UN meet, apart from interacting with leading industrialists.

He will also visit Facebook headquarters and Google campus, before wrapping up his tour. Endi
