Luis Enrique: In life nothing surprises me

Xinhua, September 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique admits he doesn' t know what could happen to FC Barcelona should the Catalan region of Spain become independent.

Although the club is remaining neutral in the elections for the Catalan Regional Assembly which could decide the future of the region on Sunday, both the President of the Spanish Football League, Javier Tebas and the President of the Upper Sports Committee for the Spanish government, Miguel Cardinal have said Barca and other Catalan clubs would have to abandon the Spanish league (LFP), something which would harm both the LFP and also Barca, who would presumably have to play in a less competitive Catalan League.

"At this stage, I can imagine anything. But in every walk of life," said Luis Enrique, who is from the region of Asturias in his press conference ahead of his side' s trip to play his previous club, Celta Vigo.

He was also asked about Barca' s attempts to register Arda Turan to cover for Rafinha, who will be out injured all season.

"The club' s looking for the best option, but at the end of the day it depends on FIFA. We know what our chances are and we are waiting for the results," he said, before looking ahead to the Celta game.

"It will be as tough as a game can be. Last year we struggled terribly and this year Celta have strengthened well, with a top sporting director and they' ve got their signings spot on. And as well as getting results they play attractive football. They' ll press and fight for the ball," he said of the side that is currently third in the league table with just two points less than his team.

"If we take it easy Celta will be all over us and so we have to be at our best to have a chance," he insisted. Endi
