Afghan president condemns attack on Pakistani airbase

Xinhua, September 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Monday spoke to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by the phone and assured him that Afghanistan would not allow anyone to use Afghan soil against Pakistan, Pakistan's state television reported Monday.

Ghani also strongly condemned the recent attack on a camp of the Pakistan Air Force that had killed 29 security personnel.

Pakistani Taliban had claimed responsibility for the deadliest attack at Badanher, a small town some 6 km south of Peshawar.

The Afghan president also extended condolences over the deaths during the terrorist attack, PTV reported.

Pakistani army said the attack was "planned and controlled from Afghanistan." The claim was denied by Afghan Presidential Palace.

Pakistan's top security adviser, Sartaj Aziz, said the government will share evidence about the attacks with the Afghan government. He said that telephonic conversation intercepted showed that the attack was controlled from the Afghan soil. He however said that Afghan government is not involved; but the Pakistani Taliban who operated from Afghanistan are behind the attack. Endi
