Ukraine has submitted a bid to host the 2017 European Basketball Championship, the press service of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation (UBF) said Monday in a statement.

According to statement on the UBF's website, the European basketball's governing body FIBA Europe has accepted Ukraine's application despite the unstable political and financial situation in the country.

"Ukraine has a chance to stage the tournament as a co-organizer. Its bid is under consideration," Turgay Demirel, FIBA Europe President, was quoted as saying by the UBF's press service.

The bidding process for the EuroBasket 2017 ends on Nov.2, after which evaluation commissions will visit all candidate venues to decide the hosts.

This year's championship was co-hosted by France, Germany, Latvia and Croatia from Sept. 5 to 20. Endit
