Slovakia provides temporary shelter to asylum seekers in Austria

A group of the first 24 asylum seekers from Austria, mainly men from Syria, came to Gabcikovo in the Southern Slovakia on Thursday, confirmed Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kalinak.
Slovakia will provide them with food and accommodation, with Austria still dealing with the asylum procedures and migrants themselves, Kalinak said. "They'll return to Austria before their asylum procedures are concluded."
The minister said Slovakia in the long term views the mandatory distribution of migrants among European Union countries as incorrect. Nevertheless, Slovakia is ready to provide temporary shelter to people who are seeking asylum in other countries, like those from Austria.
He doesn't believe that the temporary placing of migrants in Gabcikovo will bring any security risks.
"The migrants have been told that if they break the rules, they'll risk their asylum procedures being scrapped," said Kalinak, adding that at the same time Slovakia can return these migrants to Austria whenever it has any doubts concerning them. Endit
