Tunisian security agents succeeded in finding "terrorist camps" and hiding spots of terrorists on different mountains near the Algerian borders in Kasserine, said the Ministry of Interior on Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry explained that anti-terrorism patrols were launched on Mount Mghila, in Kasserine, mid-west of Tunisia.
The patrols revealed significant shelters and camps where militants trained and hid their arms and ammunition.
Security agents confiscated weapons, that seem to be used by the Tunisian army before, food, and clothing items.
Consisting of officers from the National Guard, and soldiers, the patrols additionally found 21 individual lairs, where they seized items used to make mines and explosives.
The operations were launched on September 15, according to the statement. Parallel operations took place in Kef, on the Algerian borders, where more terrorist camps were found.
Some of the confiscated items included Algerian SIM cards and phones. None of the terrorists were arrested or caught.
Tunisian security forces have intensified security operations since the announcement of the Emergency State by President Beji Caid Essebsi in August, following the terrorist attack of the Sousse resort.
The deadly attack killed 33 tourists and injured 33 more. Since then, the country has been leading an ongoing fight against terrorism. Endit
