Thousands of Turkish people rally against terrorism in Ankara

Thousands of Turkish people took part in an anti-terrorism rally in the capital city Ankara on Thursday.

About 250 business associations, unions and chambers joined the non-partisan rally, under the slogan "Yes to unity and solidarity, no to terror."

The rally came as the conflict between Turkey's security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is escalating.

"Participants in the rally displayed the national stance on solidarity," Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodities Exchanges President Rifat Hisarciklioglu said.

PKK attacks have been increasingly continuing since the start of a Turkish military operation against PKK targets in June.

More than 100 people have since been killed from each side, including civilians.

The government blames the PKK for violating the conditions of a disarmament deal aimed to end 30 years of a bloody war. Endit
