Xinhua, September 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Debt-laden Greece is heading to the polls this Sunday for the second national elections this year on an austerity budget.

The forthcoming ballot will cost Greek taxpayers about 33.3 million euros (37.63 million U.S. dollars), according to the Interior Ministry. Eighty tons of paper will be used for printing the ballots, officials noted.

The Jan. 25 general polls cost 51.1 million euros, while the July 5 referendum about 26.7 million euros.

The 2009 general polls had cost Greeks approximately 80 million euros, while in 2012 the first round inn May about 70 millions and the second one in June 48 million euros.

The largest part of the budget covers compensations for civil servants who work on election day. Endit
