Hungary to build fence along Croatian border: PM

Hungary will be building a fence along certain sections of the Croatian border too, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told the Austrian paper Die Presse Wednesday.

Now that the Serbian border has been closed off, groundwork has begun for a fence on the border with Romania, he added.

According to Hungarian News Agency MTI, Orban said he had already discussed this with his interior minister and plans were ready. When asked how long the construction might take, he said Hungary was an experienced fence-builder.

He cited Hungary's new laws and the severe sanctions that could be imposed on illegal entrants as the real deterring factor, not the fence. Endit
