Job vacancy rates stable in both euro zone, EU

The job vacancy rate in both the euro area and the European Union (EU) was 1.7 percent in the second quarter of 2015, stable compared with the previous quarter, according to figures published Wednesday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

In the 19-member euro area, the job vacancy rate in the second quarter of 2015 was 1.2 percent in industry and construction and 2.1 percent in services.

In the 28-member EU, the rate was 1.3 percent in industry and construction and 2.1 percent in services.

Eurostat said the job vacancy rate in the second quarter rose in 21 member states, remained stable in three and fell in three compared to the second quarter of 2014.

Among member states, the highest job vacancy rates recorded were in Belgium, Germany, and Britain, while the lowest were in Latvia, Poland, Portugal and Spain. Endit
