2nd LD Writethru: 7 killed, 50 injured in central Pakistan's suicide attack

Xinhua, September 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least seven people were killed and 50 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in Pakistan's central Multan city Sunday night, officials said.

District Commissioner Officer (DCO) Zahid Saleem Gondal said the explosion happened at a busy bus stop at Vehari Chowk area of Multan, a city in the country's east Punjab province.

The blast took place when a rickshaw hit into a motorbike coming from opposite direction, he said.

It seemed that the motorbike rider was carrying explosives which accidentally went off, the police officer said, adding that a bomb disposal squad was checking the incident site for detailed investigation.

Five rickshaws, a car, two motorbikes and two shops were destroyed in the blast.

The injured people have been shifted to Nishtar Hospital where some of them were said to be in critical condition.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the blast and directed hospital administration to provide best possible medical facilities to the injured. Endi
