After a landslide victory in the general election by his party, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said late Saturday that he will form the Cabinet over the next two weeks.
The People's Action Party, led by Lee, won the election with 69. 86 percent of the popular votes, the highest since 2001's landslide victory of 75.3 percent.
One of Lee's urgent affairs is to decide who will assume the post of transport minister in the new Cabinet, as former Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew decided not to contest the general election just before the election period. (Singapore-Cabinet)

KABUL -- A total of 100 militants have been killed in Afghanistan amid operations carried out by the Afghan National Army (ANA) throughout the country since early Saturday, the country's Defense Ministry said on Sunday morning.
"Some 100 terrorists were killed, 35 wounded and one terrorist was detained after ANA carried out military and cleanup operations over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates. (Afghanistan-Militants)

NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted an invitation from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on Sunday to visit the social networking giant's headquarters in the United States.
"I thank Mark Zuckerberg for the invite to visit @facebook HQ & for the Townhall Q&A at 10 PM IST on 27th September," Modi said in a post on his Facebook page.
The tech-savvy prime minister's post was in response to Zuckerberg's invitation for an interaction at the company's headquarters in Paolo Alto. (India-Facebook-Visit)

OSAKA, Japan -- Demonstrators gathered at various locations in Osaka on Sunday, protesting against the controversial security- related bills that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attempted to steamroller through the parliament later this month.
Over 1,100 people attended a gathering in Osaka Central Public Hall, demanding peace be treasured and the tragic history of war not be repeated.
"The ruling Liberal Democratic Party is shifting rightward and does not respect the public opinion," Jiro Yamaguchi, a professor of political science at Hosei University, said. (Japan-Security Bills-Protest)

ISLAMABAD -- At least six people were killed and 43 others injured when a bomb went off in Pakistan's central Multan city on Sunday night, officials said.
Deputy Superintendent Police Zahid Saleem Gondal said the explosion happened at Vihari Road area of Multan, a city in the country's east Punjab province.
Several vehicles and shops were destroyed in the blast, and the injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital. (Pakistan- Blast) Endi
