The United States is looking for opportunities to increase its participation in annual joint military exercises with Georgian troops, a senior U.S. military officer said in Tbilisi on Tuesday.
The quantity and frequency of the U.S. troops' participation in such drills is increasing, said Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, commander of U.S. Army Europe.
Such drills aim to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to Georgia and see how fast the U.S. troops can move to different parts of Europe, he told an international conference in Tbilisi on Europe's new geopolitical landscape.
"We are looking for opportunities to put more soldiers here in that exercises with Georgia," he said, referring to the joint U.S.-Georgian military exercises, dubbed Noble Partner, which were held at the Vaziani Military Base outside Tbilisi every year.
Nobel Partner 2015 was held in May and about 200 U.S. troops participated in the two-week-long exercises. Endi
