Xinhua, September 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

The 13th strike by pilots at German airline Lufthansa in one-and-a-half years caused chaos in Munich airport with about a half of all scheduled long-haul flights canceled on Tuesday.

Lufthansa canceled most flights to India, Canada and the United States, scheduled for noon from Munich airport, according to a Lufthansa spokesman.

A total of 13 out of 21 departures were canceled Tuesday, while eight of 19 flights will not arrive at Munich, according to German news agency DPA.

In addition, numerous short and medium-haul flights are also expected to be canceled on Wednesday.

The pilots union, Vereinigung Cockpit, announced their strike on Monday evening and later extended it to Wednesday midnight. Endit
