British FTSE 100 drops 2.44 pct on Friday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Friday dropped by 2.44 percent, or 151.18 points, to 6042.92 points.

All the sectors of London market closed lower today, with Mining, Oil Equipment, Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors led the lost.

Miner Anglo American's share price slumped by 7.79 percent, topped the losers of the blue chips.

Share prices of Tullow Oil, Glencore, Antofagasta and BHP Billiton declined by 6.92 percent, 5.96 percent, 5.36 percent and 5.23 percent respectively.

Only one company's share closed higher among the 101-component index. It was International Consolidated Airlines that increased only by 0.09 percent.

The trading volume in FTSE 100 companies was around 11 percent more than its 30-day average. And the index has lost 5.03 percent so far this year.

The broader FTSE All-Share Index lost 1.63 percent. Endit
