Mexican video game lets players trample U.S. presidential candidate

Xinhua, September 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

A new Mexican-designed video game lets players trounce would-be U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump, local media reported Tuesday.

The game's name is "Trumpealo!," a pun on the Spanish word "trompear," meaning smack or punch, and allows "the player to attack the magnate with shoes, soccer balls or even a cactus paddle to prevent him from reaching his goals," the daily El Universal reported.

The game's tag line reads "It's up to you," indicating the political parody hopes to empower not just the player, but also the voter.

As long as players keep lobbing objects at Trump, he remains at the podium, but if the player supports him, on purpose or accidentally, by throwing him money or flowers, then the presidential hopeful makes a speedy exit and it's game over.

Created by app and video game maker Karaokulta in Guadalajara, the game is now in beta form and can be downloaded for free, but could go into production if in demand.

"So far, it has been really well received," Karaokulta CEO Jorge Suarez told the daily.

The real estate mogul Trump has regularly offended Mexicans with crass remarks on immigration and other issues of interest to the Hispanic community in the United States. Endi
