Australia's economic growth weaker than expected: official data

Australia's economy grew by 0.2 percent in the June quarter and by 2.0 percent over the 12 months to June, official figures released on Wednesday show.

The data, released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, however was much weaker than expected.

A survey of 15 economists had previously forecast gross domestic product growth to slow to 0.5 percent in June for an annual rate of 2.2 percent.

In the March quarter, Australia's GDP grew by 0.9 percent. Endi
