Moderate quake strikes off eastern Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 5.6 Richter scale jolted eastern parts of Indonesia earlier Wednesday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported here.

The quake rocked at 08:18 a.m.Jakarta time (0118 GMT) with epicenter at 111 km northwest Sangihe Island of North Sulawesi and with the depth at 256 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua by phone.
