Tokyo shares open mixed

Tokyo shares opened the trading Wednesday mixed with Nikkei index rebounding from a sharp plunge by opening despite falls in the overnight in European and U.S. equity markets.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 82.84 points, or 0.46 percent, from Tuesday to 18,248.53, after plunging by more than 300 points before rising into positive territory.

On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 0.19 point, or 0.01 percent, to 1,477.92. Endi
