Concerns have been raised in Brisbane a about an alcohol vapor bar being set up in Brisbane that allows people to absorb drinks through their eyeballs and lungs.
The so-called cloud bar, the first in the southern hemisphere, is part of the Fear and Delight show during the Brisbane Festival slated for Sept. 5-26.
"It's not a good idea because what you're doing is you're inhaling and rapidly absorbing a toxic chemical, which is carcinogenic," said Professor Jake Najman, director of the Alcohol and Drug Research and Education Center, University of Queensland.
The bar is the work of British design team Bompas & Parr, and uses the same technologies and principle as their London cloud bar Alcoholic Architecture, which opened in July.
The principle behind the car revolves around absorption of alcohol directly into the bloodstream through the eyeballs, mucus membranes and lungs, bypassing the liver. It is reported that this particular method could help eliminate hangovers and cut calories by up to 40 percent. Endi
