Two British journalists charged for "terror offences" in Turkey

A Turkish court leveled charges of "working on behalf of a terrorist organization" against two British reporters and their translator on Monday, according to the British news organization Vice News.

The two British journalists, Jake Hanrahan and Philip Pendlebury from Vice News were detained by police in Diyarbakir, south-east Turkey on Thursday.

The trio had been in the region filming clashes between police and Kurdish militants, Vice News said.

The journalists' lawyer told BBC that they were asked questions about alleged links to Islamic State and Kurdish militants. They have denied all charges.

Kevin Sutcliffe, Vice's Head of News Programming in Europe, condemned the detention of the journalists in a statement, called the charges baseless and alarmingly false. Endit
