Chinese embassy in Greece launches Greek edition of its website

Xinhua, September 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

In an effort to strengthen the understanding and cooperation between the Chinese and Greek people the Chinese embassy in Greece launched on Monday the Greek edition of its official website.

The bid to open one more window to Greeks to get to know the real China in depth is supported by the parallel launch of the Greek edition of the Chinese community newspaper in Greece, the "China Greece Times".

The initiative was presented to Greek officials and media in an event at the Chinese embassy in Athens on Monday by the Chinese Ambassador to Greece Zou Xiaoli and Liang Manyu, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Greece Times.

As of Monday through the Greek edition of the embassy's website Greek citizens are given the opportunity to read in their own language the latest developments regarding the blooming Sino-Greek cooperation.

Furthermore, Greeks who are interested in learning more about the latest political, economic, social, cultural and sports news in China and bilateral ties, the activities of the Chinese enterprises and in general the Chinese community in Greece can turn to the Greek edition of the China Greece Times for more extensive reports.

The newspaper of the Chinese community in Greece was founded in Athens in 2005 and over the past decade has been the first and only Chinese daily in Greece and the southern Balkans.

China Greece times, as Liang told Xinhua, has become a precious channel for Chinese readers to get credible information about Greece and the activities of Chinese in Greece, in addition to other Chinese media.

From now on, "even if you don't understand any Chinese at all, you will be able to read it, because we now have four pages in the Greek language," she explained to Greek friends.

The 24- page weekly newspaper has expanded to 28 pages to include more news about Greece and China in the Greek language with the support from the Chinese Embassy in Greece, the Greek Embassy in China, Chinese companies operating in Greece, and overseas Chinese associations in Greece. Endit
