The 22-year-old striker Jhon Cordoba joined from La Liga outfit FC Granada for one year on loan, Mainz confirmed on Monday.

"We have observed Jhon Cordoba for some time. His physical condition and his style of play fits perfectly to our squad. Jhon is a young player in which we see a lot of development potential," Mainz' sporting director Christian Heidel said.

Jhon Cordoba played since August 2014 for La Liga club FC Granada where he scored four goals in 26 appearances.

"I am very glad to join Mainz and I am looking forward to the challenge in the Bundesliga. Of course, I am happy to meet my fellow countryman and teammate Elkin Soto," the new arrival said.

Mainz encounter Schalke to close the fourth round in Bundesliga on September 13. Endit
