Leverkusen snap up Manchester United's Javier Hernandez

Xinhua, September 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bayer Leverkusen strengthen their squad with the signing of Manchester United's Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, the "Werkself" confirmed at the last day of Germany's transfer window on Monday.

The 27-year-old Mexican international, who played last season on loan at Real Madrid, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, that keeps him with the "Werkself" until June 2018.

"He is a lively, agile and fast striker, who is technically skilled and has a good finish. With the signing of 'Chicharito' we get more variation in our offence. I am delighted that he has chosen for Leverkusen. The Bundesliga can look forward to a great player," Leverkusen's sporting director Rudi Voeller said.

Javier Hernandez Balcazar joined the "Red Devils" in 2010 to donate 37 goals in 103 appearances ever since. Chicharito played lately at Real Madrid on loan where he marked seven goals in 23 games.

"I know the Premier League and La Liga, which are two of the three major European League. Now I want to experience the Bundesliga. I have heard a lot about the great stadiums in Germany and their unique supporters. Bayer is a great opportunity for me, here I can and want to achieve something," Hernandez said.

Bayer Leverkusen encounter Bundesliga newcomers Darmstadt at the fourth round on September 12. Endit
