Germany coach Joachim Loew appointed Liverpool's Emre Can for the first time after revealing the squad for the upcoming UEFA European Qualifiers in an official press conference on Friday.
The FIFA World champions encounter Poland in Frankfurt on Sept. 4 before they visit Scotland in Glasgow three days later. Thus, Loew revealed his 23-men squad that includes defender Emre Can for the first time. "Emre developed well in Liverpool. Now we want to get to know him better in the next few days," Loew said.
Besides the newcomer from Livepool, Barcelona's goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Dortmund's Matthias Ginter and Hoffenheim's Kevin Volland will return into Germany's squad.
Poland leads Group D with 14 points followed by Germany with 13, Scotland with 11, Ireland with 9, Georgia with 3 and Gibraltar with 0.
"We have it in our own hands. Our aim can only be to win the next two games and to take the lead in the standings. I assume that we can do that, as I am convinced of the quality of my team. We know what is at stake, we want to and will shift up a gear," Loew said.
