Chinese ambassador lauds fight of Chinese, Korean peoples against Japanese aggression

Chinese Ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Li Jinjun on Friday spoke highly of joint combat of the Chinese and Korean peoples against Japanese aggression during World War II ahead of China's Sept. 3 V-Day celebrations.

Li said the blood-cemented friendship cultivated by older generations of revolutionaries of China and the DPRK in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and in the Korean War is "a valuable wealth left by history and should be carried forward one generation after another."

Li made the statement in a signed article published on Korea Today, an official magazine released by the DPRK's state-run Foreign Languages Publishing House, a few days ahead of the commemoration activities in Beijing marking the 70th anniversary of China's victory in WWII.

"The predecessors in China and the DPRK as well as other countries fought bloody battles against Japanese fascist invaders, safeguarded their nations and homelands and earned great victory over fascism," Li said.

Li praised the Korean people who, with high aspirations, fought side by side with Chinese against imperialist Japanese aggressor troops.

The ambassador noted that right-wing forces in Japan still attempt to challenge the world order even today and that some Japanese politicians deliberately deny the country's aggression past, repeatedly pay homage to convicted war criminals, and spread comments that gloss over its aggression and colonial rule.

"China will by no means accept this, nor will countries and people in Asia and around the world that love peace and justice, including the DPRK," he said.

China is to stage a grand military parade marking the 70th anniversary of China's victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression on Sept. 3, which will be joined by nearly 1,000 foreign troops from 17 countries.

Although China has so far held 14 military parades to mark National Day, the parade next month will be the first to commemorate an anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. It is also the first time for foreign troops to participate in a military parade in China.

Choe Ryong Hae, Secretary of the Central Committee of the DPRK's Workers' Party of Korea, has confirmed that he will visit Beijing and attend the military parade early next month. Endi
