1st LD Writethru: 2 killed in Afghan capital bomb attack

Xinhua, August 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least two army personnel were killed and one person was injured in a bomb attack in western part of Afghan capital on Friday evening, sources and witnesses said.

"A sticky bomb attached to an army vehicle was detonated in Fazil Baig locality, leaving two soldiers dead, and one person aboard the vehicle wounded," a security official told Xinhua anonymously.

The killed and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital before being transported to an army hospital in central Kabul, the sources added.

The blast damaged several vehicles and shattered glasses of nearby buildings.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban insurgent group routinely claims responsibility for such attacks.

The Afghan soldiers and police casualties have risen recently as the United States and NATO troops in Afghanistan have switched from combat to support role, namely training, advising and assisting Afghan forces since early this year. Endi
