2nd LD Writethru: 3 killed, 4 injured in shooting in New York State

Xinhua, August 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least three people were killed and four others injured when a gunman shot into a crowd outside a club in the U.S. state of New York Wednesday night, local media reported Thursday.

Shots were fired into a crowd outside the Boys and Girls Club after a basketball game in Rochester a few minutes before 11:30 p.m. local time (0330 GMT Thursday), local media NBC news quoted police as saying.

"What we know now is a car drove by, at least one or more occupants in the car fired shots from the car into the crowd that had gathered after a basketball game at the Boys and Girls Club," the WHEC website quoted Rochester Police Chief Michael Ciminelli as saying.

Local media reports said at least one of the victims was a teen. However, police have not released ages or identities for any of the victims.

The injured, all men in their 20s, have gunshot wounds that don't appear to be life-threatening, police said.

An investigation into the incident is underway, local police said. Ciminelli urged anyone in the community with information about the shooting to come forward. Endi
