Xinhua, August 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Macedonia declared on Thursday a "state of emergency" in its two border regions, under the tension caused by rising number of refugees, the internal affairs ministry said.

The regions concerned are two ends of a south-north track passing through Macedonia towards Europe by refugees coming from the Middle East via Greece, according to the ministry.

Macedonia government managed to take a comprehensive approach to deal with the asylum seekers and refugees, and open the possibility for the involvement of the Army to assist in controlling the situation, in order to boost security and tranquility for local communities in the two border regions, the ministry said.
