Spanish treasury places 5.45 bln euros on market at lower yields

Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills with a value of 5.45 billion euros (6 billion U.S. dollars) at lower interest rates than in previous auctions, registering a high demand of 11.78 billion euros.

A total of 636 million euros worth of six-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of minus 0.014 percent, below the 0.021 percent of the previous issue held in July.

The placement also included 4.815 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills that fetched an average interest rate of 0.024 percent, also below the 0.110 percent of the previous auction held in July.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed 100.7 billion euros of medium and long term debt on the market which represented 70.9 percent of the country's financial goals for the year, 141.996 billion euros. (1 euro = 1.1 U.S. dollars) Endit
