Philippines condemns bomb attack in Thailand

Xinhua, August 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Philippine government condemned Tuesday in the strongest terms the bomb explosion in Thailand that killed at least 20 people and scores wounded.

"This violent incident underlines the need for solidarity against those who sow terror and inflict violence," said Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr..

In a separate statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok has been coordinating with the hospitals in the area to verify if any Filipinos were among those who perished or have been injured and to provide assistance.

"The Philippines stands in solidarity with the government and people of Thailand at this trying moment," the department said, adding that the bombing apparently has the intention to sow terror.

The DFA said its Embassy in Bangkok has advised the Filipinos there to remain calm and to observe the necessary precaution to ensure their personal safety.

The bombing took place near a popular Hindu Temple in Bangkok Monday night. Endi
