1st LD: China stocks plunge over 5 pct

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index plunged more than 5 percent in the afternoon trading session on Tuesday.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost more than 5.3 percent. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, dropped over 4.7 percent.

Listed state-owned enterprises led the slump, with Jihua Group Corporation and China Jushi dropping by the daily limit of 10 percent. Enditem
