Xinhua, August 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Thailand received more than 2.6 million foreign tourists in July, up 38 percent year-on-year, Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul said Wednesday.

China and Malaysia were the largest sources of visitors, the minister was quoted by Bangkok Post as saying.

In the first seven months of this year, tourist arrivals in Thailand stood at around 17.4 million, a 30.1-percent increase from the same period last year, statistics from the Department of Tourism showed.

The ministry expects to achieve its target of 28.8 million visitors this year, with tourism revenue reaching 2.2 trillion baht (62.7 billion U.S. dollars), Kobkarn said.

Tourism revenue from October 2014, the beginning of fiscal year 2015, to the end of July was recorded at 1.2 trillion baht, up 23. 1 percent from the previous fiscal year, according to the minister. Endi
