Eurozone retail trade down by 0.6 pct in June

The seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade in June fell by 0.6 percent in the eurozone compared with the pervious months, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU) said on Wednesday.
In the 28-member EU, the retail sales index also fell by 0.5 percent in June compared with May 2015.
On an annual basis, the retail trade volume increased by 1.2 percent in the euro zone and by 2.0 percent in the 28-member EU.
Among EU member states for which data are available, the largest decrease in total retail trade was registered in Germany, down by 2.3 percent, while the highest increase was registered in Romania with 1.7 percent.
According to Eurostat, Eurozone retail trade decreased in June due to falls of 0.8 percent for "food, drinks and tobacco" and of 0.2 percent for non-food products, while automotive fuel remained stable.
In the 28-member bloc, retail trade decreased in June due to falls of 0.6 percent for "food, drinks and tobacco", 0.4 percent for automotive fuel and 0.1 percent for non-food products. Endit
