-- German Justice Minister Heiko Maas fired on Tuesday Germany's chief prosecutor in an escalating row sparked by a controversial treason case against two blog reporters accused of revealing state secrets.

-- Germany's domestic intelligence chief Hans-Georg Maassen has warned against an escalation of right-wing violence in Germany. "We have concern that not only accommodation centers for asylum seekers are affected, but people may also get hurt sometimes," Maassen told media.
