Tokyo stocks rise 0.79 pct on weak yen, firm domestic earnings

Tokyo stocks rose 0.79 percent in the morning session of Wednesday as broadly firm earnings from listed domestic companies and the yen's depreciation improved investor sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 162.30 points from Tuesday to end the morning at 20,682.66. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 12. 97 points, or 0.78 percent, at 1,672.80.

Gainers were led by metal products, real estate and precision instruments. Endi
