8 killed in building collapse near Mumbai

Xinhua, August 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least eight people were killed and seven others injured after a three-story building collapsed in Thane near India's financial hub Mumbai early on Tuesday morning.

Local TV channel Times Now reported that the incident took place in Naupada in the old Thane city at 2:45 a.m. local time. It was the second building collapse in the same city within two weeks.

Meanwhile, more than 15 persons are feared to be trapped under the debris of the building, said the report.

The residential building was in a dilapidated state and was declared dangerous for occupancy.

At least six people were killed in another building collapse in Thane last month. Endi
