New Zealand Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce has discussed expanding trade and investment links with officials of the Philippines.

Joyce, who is in Manila for events to mark the 40th anniversary of New Zealand's ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), met with Secretary of Finance Cesar Purisima and Secretary of Socio-economic Planning Arsenio Balisacan.

"The potential for deepening our business links with the Philippines is considerable. The Philippines offers a market of over 100 million people and an educated, English-speaking workforce," said the New Zealand official.
