Six people have been killed and five others injured in a landslide that occurred in Indonesia's North Sumatra province, a senior official at Indonesia's disaster mitigation agency said on Tuesday.

ABUJA -- At least 29 people were confirmed killed after suspected Boko Haram fighters raided villages in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno on Monday and early Tuesday, a local official said.

The insurgents stormed Dille community and two other surrounding villages in Askira Uba local district of the restive Borno State, destroying lives and property of the local people in one of the latest incidents of insecurity in the West African country, Jubrin Satumari, a federal lawmaker representing the province in the Nigerian parliament, said. DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army and Kurdish fighters have completely dislodged the Islamic State (IS) militants from the northeastern province of Hasakah after 33 days of battles, a monitor group reported Tuesday.

The government forces and Kurdish fighters finally recaptured all of the districts that the IS stormed a month ago in the southern part of Hasakah, amid skirmishes in the southern countryside of the province between Syrian forces and the last remaining pockets of the IS there. (Syria-IS-Conflicts)

TRIPOLI -- A Libyan court on Tuesday sentenced Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of former leader Muammar Gaddafi, to death, according to judicial resources.

BUJUMBURA -- UN electoral observers in Burundi said on Monday that the overall environment for Burundi's presidential election held on July 21 was not conducive to credible elections, according to a UN statement.
