Tokyo issues open lower on weak performances in U.S. market

Tokyo stocks plunged by opening the trading Tuesday as sentiment here was weighed down by weak performances in overnight U.S. market.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average plunged 222.04 points, or 1.09 percent, from Monday to 20,128.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 19.33 points, or 1.18 percent, at 1, 618.57. Endi
