Players from 10 African nations attend Uganda Professionals Golf event

Foreign players from nine nations have arrived to compete in the 2015 Uganda Professionals Open Golf Championship.
The event, running from July 28 to Aug. 1 at the par 72 Kitante course, has attracted players from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland, Nigeria, Ghana and hosts Uganda.
"We are happy to have several top players coming from different nations to take part in this event. After competing the event for women and amateurs we are sure of having a very competitive competition for the professionals too," Kiryowa Kiwanuka, President of the Uganda Golf Union (UGU) told Xinhua.
Dismus Ndiza Anyonyi, one of the Kenyan player who traveled together with 30 teammates, said that after practice on Monday he is happy with the course and hopes to perform well when action starts on Tuesday.
"It's a great course were you can play good pitch and play, the roughs and greens are tricky. All you have to play is too chip well to hit them," said South Africa's Jason Froneman.
Zambia's Evanshi Naik, who recently won the East and Central All Africa Challenge Trophy in Malawi will be another player to watch.
Uganda's Deo Akope is the defending champion for the event which will have cash prizes at stake.
