Australian man fined for trying to smuggle live gecko

An Australian man who tried to send a live gecko through the postal system has been fined for trying to do so.

The 23-year-old man from Cleveland near Brisbane was a reptile collector who was charged with taking a reptile from a National Park.

The reptile collector was spotted by postal staff trying to secure a golden-tailed gecko in a container before then attempting to post the package, local media reported on Monday.

The man appeared in court and was fined 4,500 Australian dollars (3,321.9 U.S. dollars). Endi
